So, I love hardcovers but what are you supposed to do with the dust jackets when you are actually reading them?
For the shelf it’s simple, jacket on. When reading though, jacket or naked? Most books are pretty plain when they are naked so I like the jackets, but when I am slouching around reading there is the potential for the jacket edges to get scuffed, which I obviously don’t want.
So what do you guys do with the jacket when you are actually reading? Or does the jacket drama put you off hardcovers all together? On BookTube I have seen a few people just showing the jacket in wrap-ups because they have leant out the book but to me such complete separation seems like madness! What do you guys think?
The jacket comes off during reading – no exceptions!

I rarely read hardbacks, but when I do the jacket comes off! I want to keep the jacket as tidy as possible

I wrap my hardcovers in the same stuff libraries use. Lol then I can keep jackets on.

I basically always keep them on but then get annoyed that they’re in the way!

My husband doesn’t like the plastic so I don’t cover his. But I like the crinkle and I like being able to keep the covers on. Only downside is the glare when I photograph them.

I have ordered a couple of books recently that came library style, so hardcover but no loose dust cover. I like those!

Oh like the ones where the image is printed right on the cover? I like those

Yeah those ones. I wish it was the norm for hardcovers, so convenient!
